He started carrier as a quantity surveyor at state Engineering Corporation (SEC) of Sri Lanka. After 7 years at SEC left the Island and joined World Renowned British Construction firm M / s Taylor Woodrow and Towell (TWT) in Sultanate of Oman as a Senior Quantity Surveyor for 3 years. On fulfilling obligations & ambitions returned and joined National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) as the Head of the Quantity Surveying Division and served for more than 25 years.
Afterwards he was called upon to serve at the Ministry of Housing and Construction Industry, Eastern Province Education and Irrigation Development as Director (Construction Materials). On retirement joined Construction Guarantee Fund since 2005 in the capacity of Technical Credit Rating Officer.
